  • we had NCFC-MD campus anniversary service today...

overall for a joint KC/EC/kids service - it went pretty smoothly and was a blessing - EC team led praise (much less stressful than trying the KC/EC joint team) and then we had special offering by a few members of the praise team, youth hymn/stomp (you'd think that's not possible, but it was pretty good!), korean choir, and a children's chorus join in with the praise team at the end!  (it's true - you can't imitate a kid's voice...  and to hear the sound of innocent voices worshipping should be enough to make you cry)

I'd have to say that one of the most priceless moments I noted was my (on-stage) view of the girls in the children's chorus - in one of the front rows during worship - doing hand motions/body worship to ONE WAY...  they even started jumping up and down during the chorus!  it wasn't one of the songs they had practiced for, which meant they remembered this from Sunday School?    (I bet ahelmsman was a contributor to that)    I was really touched...

  • i miss fitness first...  had a good rate b/c i actually joined after my mom had, so had an extra discount and they have so many sites which worked out well between gtown and silver spring...  but there's none on this side of things...

so after moving out here to laurel, i had to pick a different gym...  boo had already signed up with Gold's and then i found a couple more Gold's along the way to work.  BUT you have to pay almost double to have the universal plan.  so i picked the one closest to work, thinking i could beat traffic issues by going before or after work.

BUT in downtown ss, city place isn't open early in the morning, so you have to park several blocks away and walk all the way around to the side entrance and in the afternoon, you have to pay to park!  and the traffic in the morning wasn't much better at 6 than it is at 7:30...  argh.

anyway for months, i ended up not exercising that much at all anyway.  boo.

THEN i found out you an transfer your Gold's membership!  there's another one on route 29 that's actually on the way home from both offices i go to, and no parking garage issues...

SO, i tried to transfer.  went to new gym. signed new contract.  was told to go back to first gym and show new contract.  went to first gym and was told needed to send a certified letter to finance dept.  went home. wrote letter.  next day sent certified letter.  several days later, received notification that letter sent was not enough documentation.  called and waited on hold and sent email to request clarification.  called again next day.  was told CANNOT transfer between these two gold's because of different finance companies.  called new gym manager who called first gym manager and said it shouldn't be this complicated.  (really?)  called first gym manager who said i needed another form (alliance transfer).  called new manager who said he would fax it.  didn't.  called next working day and asked to fax again.  never received.  stopped by after work to pick up a hard copy.  next day went to old gym to turn in papers.  states it should be fine now.

i don't know why new manager just didn't give me the transfer form from the beginning and why some guy gave me the cancellation letter policy.  (snarl.)

and all of this just makes me feel like i can't use the gyms yet until it's all worked out.  that's a good excuse, isn't it?

  • so i had gotten tagged a few days back........

    Rules

    1. We have to post these rules before we give you the facts.
    2. Players start with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
    3. People who are tagged write their own blog post about their eight things and include these rules.
    4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged and that they should read your blog.

(I guess dillydante tagged Moo since he hasn't met Boo yet... - let us know when you're in the area!)

    Moo's list
    1. When I floss, my nose itches.
    2. When I do certain exercises, my legs itch. (and get red and hive-y)

    4.  I love organizing.
    5.  I cannot curl my tongue.
    6.  I fold T-shirts like this:  half horizontally, then in thirds vertically, then another half horizontally.
    7.  I love collecting recipes and then trying *some* of them.  (i.e. i probably already have more than i can ever make...)

  • So Moo and I went to our first-ever country music concert! Moo got me tickets for my birthday (which was in June) to the Kenny Chesney Flip-Flop Summer Tour with Sugarland opening. It was us and like 5000 white folks rocking out to Summertime! "Cheap shades and a tattoo and Yoo-hoo bottle on the floorboard. Perfect song on the radio, sing along because it's one we know......" We saw 2 other Asians there, and maybe about 4 black people. But hey, good music is good music......had a blast!

    Thanks Moo Moo!

    Pictures to come soon!

Here we are!  just inside the assigned seats, with the hot lawn behind us...oc 004

Pat Green (?) started - no picure of him...
    Sugarland next!

    oc 007

then they kept this curtain up until Kenny was ready -  AAAARRRR!  (pirate sound)

    oc 013

    oc 014
    oc 015
    oc 018
they did a lot of neato video screen stuff with the LARGE screen and 5 smaller ones up top...
we ended up leaving a little early, which was good b/c we had one couple making out to our left
and a couple of jr highers to our right who seemed to think it was more fun to watch the making out
couple than the concert!  and us in between....  (sigh)  nevertheless, the row in front of us were a bunch of
middle-aged women having a good time, and then in front of them this 6 ft firefighter-type just swooning along
in pure bliss!   made us smile......

  • What a beautiful day it was on Saturday...  and Boo's first day off in 13 days.  We went to Jesse Wong's for dim sum then drove around to Patapsco State Park and hiked a bit.  It's a pretty big park and we ended driving around through historic Sykesville and little towns on Marriottsville Road (and saw a little Korean church, man -they're everywhere...!) in order to find the place, but it was just perfect weather!

Then we got to go eat some Maryland crabs...  first (and last?) time this season for Moo and Boo...

  • Poopy patient

so Boo and I share lotsa work stories, but this one Boo said I should post...

just as I was about to finish up the morning session today, the receptionist asked if I could see another patient who was constipated.  I still had some time, so I said ok.  So the mom of this 11-and-a-half month old girl had switched to whole milk this week and the kid hadn't pooped for 4 days!  While I was trying to examine her, she started crying and straining, and when Mom pulled her pull-ups down, I saw her little butt-hole stretch REAL WIDE as she tried to push  push  push!   So I helped her along and out plopped a pretty decently-sized hard smelly poopy.  In a second she stopped crying, turned her head, looked up at me and gave me a little smile.

I laughed.  By the time Mom put her clothes back on and was ready to go, little girl was smiling and waving 'bye'   Mom was really glad too.  I didn't really do all that much, but it's nice when people believe they get better by coming to the doctor's....
