  • so hard to keep xanga going.....................................

M and B will be traveling to Seoul and Yanji this September!!  will get to introduce each other to our extended families over there...

M just got back from Seattle from her youngest cousin's wedding...  at the Point Defiance Zoo!  walked by the Asian elephant to get to the buffet in the monkey house; bride and groom's table by the tiger cage...  was certainly a different style wedding!    but I must say the Seattle-Tacoma area is beautiful with the evergreens, mountains and the water.

  • 29 and 97

this intersection gets me so riled up sometimes...  i've told myself before that i just need to avoid it...

rte 29 and georgia avenue is a pretty busy intersection.  all in all, traffic moves through it pretty well, since you can't turn left in most directions.  anyway, heading north on georgia, turning right onto colesville gets pretty backed up.  there is a specific green right turn arrow, but comes on after the georgia-northbound lights have been green, and then the right turn arrow STAYS green when the northbound lights have turned RED.

(i don't know if you can picture it...)

BUT this admittedly causes confusion for the pedestrian.  we all like to think we can start to cross a street not necessarily when the green walk sign comes on, but when we see cars stop.  sure, i've done it too.

so, these pedestrians start walking across the street when the northbound lights are red and the cars right in front of them have stopped.  unfortunately, the RIGHT HAND LANE STILL HAS A GREEN ARROW!!!  (and the pedestrian walk sign is solid, not flashing, RED.)  so they're expecting us to stop, and granted you have to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, BUT the line to turn right is already 2-3 blocks long and it's no turn on red and now I have to stop for you crossing when you're not supposed to?!?!?!?!?!?!

this after a busy, frustrated monday.

thankfully B listened to all my venting and made me laugh with a little dot of peanut butter still on his cheek when I got to greet him....

  • WE gonna get FIT with Wii FIT!

actually it's pretty amazing how short of breath and sweaty you can get with this balance board thing...  we really should get to the gym, but it's better than just sitting here in front of the tube!

  • Ocean City and a cold

in between B's crazy night shifts, we got to steal away to the beach this weekend...  as we were driving out past Annapolis, i noticed my throat was hurting.  can it be?  am i really catching a cold now?!?!   sigh.

we checked in and found out we were upgraded to an oceanfront room!  yippee!  but lo and behold, i did catch a cold and was a little congested Saturday...  still enjoyed watching B learning to surf, listening to the waves breaking and feeling the sand between my toes....   aaaah.

  • B starts his third year of residency with a Bang!  Day shifts from 1 pm to 11 pm for a couple weeks, then Night shifts from 9 pm to 9 am for a couple weeks!  You might think the day shifts aren't too bad, since he doesn't have to do those overnight calls...  but working 6 days a week like that, the wifey only saw him sleeping in the morning as she gets ready for work!  Thankfully his day off was Sunday, so we went to church together...

Now, wifey sees him for 2 and a half hrs after her work, before he leaves for his work.  (sigh)

At least we're planning to go to the beach this weekend!!!  yay!

Adia learned how to review the pictures I took in my phone and in my camera... when she looked at these, she started laughing hysterically and when her daddy asked why?  she said, "I'm being funny to gomo!"

  • Can't escape the clicking pen!!!!!

The first day of conference, I sat in the second-to-last row and had somebody clicking their pen throughout the talks!  Ack!

The next day, I decided to just sit in the same place and see how it went.  Lo and behold, the clicker-pen lady was seated to my left!  I wanted to trade her pen for one with a separate lid!  Double ack!

So the third day, I chose to sit at the end of the second-to-last row, but clicker-pen-lady decides to sit right next to me again!  Not only that, even though the lecturer is to our FAR right, she is looking towards the front LEFT side of the room...  which is towards me!  why?  (she also ate big plates -note plural!- of fruit and like 3 muffins) Good grief!

Today, the fourth day, I sat in the back row:  put my things down, went to go get some yogurt and cereal.  When I get back to the seat, you won't believe it...  she was sitting next to me AGAIN!   I actually paused a moment to think if I should move.  (sigh)  I didn't (because I left a little early today to go to Sarasota's Jungle Garden!)  heehee

Also, note that a bird peed/pooped on me at the beach on Tuesday.  Me and birds in Sarasota do not mix.  The first time I came here, a bird attacked me while I was walking back to the hotel.
